Bessie G. Short

Bessie Green Short, age 84, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away Saturday morning, June 22, 2019.

A Gallatin native, she was born to the late, James S. Green and Emily Douglass Green.

Most of Bessie’s life, she worked with Bell South for 35 years until retirement. After retirement, she was a highly sought after babysitter, and enjoyed spending her time volunteering at Headstart where she read to the children. She also was a master gardener.

She was a member of the Creekview Church of Christ in Gallatin.

Besides her parents, Bessie is preceded in death by husband, Paul Short; brothers, Sam Green and Bob Green; sister, Emily Green; nephews, Cullen Green and Lionel Green.

She is survived by brothers, James Green of Austin, Texas, and Norval Green, and wife Nancy, of Gallatin, Tennessee; sisters, Elise Hoffman of Enterprise, Alabama, Mary Morgan of Gallatin, Tennessee, and Billy Glover of Gallatin, Tennessee; along with nieces and nephews, Jenney Ballard, Jamie Green, Walter Green, Mary Elizabeth Martin, Jeff Green, Tina Jo Green, Douglass Green, Emily McNabb, John Green, Billy Joe Green, Carl Morgan, Chris Morgan, and Greg Glover.

Funeral service for Bessie will be Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 11 AM from the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Stacy Durham officiating.

Visitation with the family will be on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 4 PM until 8 PM and again on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM.

Interment will be held after the service at the Soper Green Family Cemetery, with Billy Joe Green, Jeff Green, Greg Glover, Carl Morgan and Chris Morgan serving as pallbearers.
