Betty Schmittou Daughtry

Betty Schmittou Daughtry, age 90, of Cottontown, TN, passed away on July 15, 2022 at the residence of her son in Cottontown. 

Ms. Daughtry was born on April 1, 1932, one of five children born to the late Albert and Gladys (Whitson) Schmittou.  She was married to Sewell Daughtry on December 23, 1950, who preceded her in death in August of 1989.  In addition to her spouse and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Schmittou, two sisters, Celia Schmittou and Ida Skelton. 

She was retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company, where she worked in various positions including operator.  She worked there many years during the time when you had to tell the operator what number you wanted to call.  She enjoyed gardening and always loved having flowers. 

She is survived by her son, Jim Daughtry of Cottontown; granddaughter, Savannah Daughtry, Cottontown; brother, Thomas and spouse, “Bernie” Schmittou of Hohenwald, TN; and sister, Carolyn Nixon of Sacramento, CA.

Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 20^th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.  from the chapel of the Anderson Funeral Home in Gallatin with Pastor Jerry Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gallatin City Cemetery with family & friends serving as pallbearers Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, July 19th from 4 to 8 p.m. and resume on Wednesday at 12:00 noon to service time.
