James "Sammy" Barnes

James “Sammy” Barnes, age 83, passed away on March 25, 2024, in Gallatin, TN.

He was a member of the church of Christ, and attended Bush’s Chapel church of Christ.  Sammy retired from Ford Motor Glass Plant after 41 years of service.  He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years.

He loved his God, family, and was a loving husband, father, and poppy.

In his earlier years, Sammy loved his horses and enjoyed barrel racing. More recently, he enjoyed playing golf with his wife and friends, and was a member of the volunteer EMS group. 

Sammy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Judy Barnes; children, Shawn (Rachel) Barnes, Jesse “Billy” Johnson, Tommy (Michelle) Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Tyler Johnson; fourteen grandchildren; brother, David (Patricia) Barnes; sisters, Dorothy (John) Sires, Katherine (Roy) Graves, Clara Lee (Larry) Miller.   

Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Silas Barnes and Ruth (Dycus) Barnes; son, Eric Johnson; sister, Adeline Barnes, brother, Charles Robert Barnes.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bush's Chapel Church Of Christ with Bro. Jonathan England officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service.
