Janie Everett-Elliott, 85, of Gallatin, Tenn. formerly of Shelby and Kinston, N.C., went to be with Jesus on April 13, 2015. She had lived in Gallatin for the past two years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dick Everett of Kinston; and her second husband, Charlie Elliott Sr. of Shelby. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Annie Bell Moye, Pearl Dorsey, and Rena Flanagan; her brothers, Robert Edwards, George Edwards, Tom Edwards, Hyman Edwards, G.C. Edwards Sr., and Cornell Edwards Sr. Janie owned and operated Janie's Christian Bookstore in Kinston in the late 1970's. She later taught sewing in the continuing education department of Lenoir Community College for 17 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Allen Farmer of Gallatin, Tenn.; her son, Keith Everett of Greenville, N.C.; her grandchildren, Janelle Boston (Jonathan) of Nashville, Tenn., Ryan Everett of La Grange, N.C.; her great-granddaughter, Lydia Grace Boston of Nashville, Tenn.; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 16, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home and other times at the home of Roy and Brenda Eubanks, 2593 Browntown Road Snow Hill, N.C. Graveside rites will be on Friday, April 17, at 11 a.m. at Westview Cemetery in Kinston with Cleve Edwards officiating.
