MSgt. Patrick L. Shatley (USAF Ret.), age 65 of Cottontown, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020, after a lengthy illness, in Gallatin, TN.
He was born March 15, 1955 in Newfoundland (Canada) to a career military family who moved multiple times while he was growing up. Pat then made the military his life’s work, spending 20 years in the United States Air Force, often stationed overseas. A decorated veteran, he was known to be a bright, intelligent individual, who worked in data, wideband, and as an imagery intrusion detection analyst, throughout his career. Military retirement provided for physical, financial, and healthcare security for the remainder of his life.
He had a dry wit and loved to hammer out the fine points of quantum physics or the inner workings of various galaxies with family and friends, especially after a drink or two. Pat had a mild temperament and overall kind sweet spirit, similar to his mother. He looked forward to seeing her again and being held in her embrace. Pat was loved, respected and will truly be missed.
He is survived by his siblings, Karen, Donald, and Christopher; as well as two nieces and four nephews.
An interment service will take place at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with, John Kinney, counselor in a bishopric of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, presiding. In lieu of flowers, please thank a veteran for their service to our great country.
