"Sis" Pate Blackshear

“Sis” Pate Blackshear, age 91 of Gallatin, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Capstone at Station Camp.

A lifelong resident of Gallatin, she was born to the late Will Henry Baker and Ellen (Robey) Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Hays Pate Sr. who passed away in October of 1996, and later married Dr. Joseph Randall Blackshear, who passed away in April of this year; and a sister, Betty Emmet Baker.

“Sis” was a graduate of the 1948 class of Gallatin High School, upon graduation she attended the Randolph Macon College where she completed her bachelor’s degree. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She spent much of her time devoted to volunteer work, she was one of the founding members of the Cragfont State Historic Site Board; a volunteer for Sumner Regional Medical Center where she served as Treasurer of the gift shop, and was a charter member of the Pink Ladies; Treasurer of the College Women’s Study Club; member of the Garden Club in earlier times, and very active in the PTA. She loved her church, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church Gallatin in her early years where she was a coordinator for their Meals on Wheels program, then became a member of the First Baptist Church Gallatin where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for 4-to-5-year-olds. Later she became an active member of the Sumner Christian Fellowship here in Gallatin. “Sis” is widely known in our community as an avid Bridge Player.

She is survived by her children; Betty Mayberry (Eddie), Robert Pate Jr. (Marilee), Henry Pate (Karla), David Pate (Joyce); stepchildren, Randall Blackshear (Lorie), Michael Blackshear (Debra), Anne Marie Hurt; grandchildren, Blair Vaughan (Josh), Warren Pate (Haley), Will Pate (Jamie), Jordan Pate, Bailey Pate, John Michael Pate, Joseph Pate, David Pate, James Pate (Suzie); step-grandchildren, Megan Stricker (David), Whitney Potts (Adam); great-grandchildren, Millie, Harper, and Payton Vaughan, Camden and Maddox Pate, and Kensley Keller Pate; step-great-grandchildren, Sophie Stricker , Will Stricker, Hunter and Walker Potts.

Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home with Eddie Mayberry and Mike Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in the Gallatin City Cemetery with Warren Hays Pate, Will Pate, David Bradly Pate, Jordan Pate, James Robert Pate, John Michael Pate, Joseph Edward Pate, and Josh Vaughan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the College Women’s Study Club and the “Thursday Night Group”.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home and will resume on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. until service time.

Memorial donations are suggested to the American Red Cross, 2201 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37203.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anderson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main Street, Gallatin.
